I have used downy and snuggle. Both work, I would think any would.

There are many products out there for shine. I use Pantene smooth and shine anti-frizz serum. I am sure most are the same. I hear redkin makes a good one. I just could not find it.

    Good luck.

I used the Free & Sensitive Downy. When it's all in the pan, it smells faintly, but on the doll- it had no effect.

I also washed my doll's hair and conditioned it with American Girl's real beauty shampoo/conditioner. (Which, by the way, is lovely smelly. Apparently the "creamy" in "creamy vanilla" is jasmine.) I'd never washed a doll's hair before, but she turned out fabulously.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up just using a shine product on her hair. (put it on, wait 10 minutes, wash it off) And it worked nicely.

For Samantha's hair, washing it won't wash the curls out. In fact, I think her hair is even more curly afterwards.

I've heard others say they use a wig shampoo and conditioner.

    Samantha and Kirsten's Makeover
    quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">" target="_blank">http://www.imagestation.com/album/pi...?id=2119209788
</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I tried this method on my first doll a AGT20 from 1995. Her hair was so fuzzy I could not get a brush through it. I had already done a Downey Dunk and used wig shampoo but it was still fuzzy. So yesterday I did the Downey Dunk in the zip lock then washed it again with wig shampoo, rinsed good and let air dry some. While it was still damp I put in a little Sleek and Shine and used a straitener on low heat and combed and ironed. I cut off the stragglers but not blunt. And I am so thrilled with the results, absolutely beautiful. I can now brush her hair and style it. Thank you all for posting all these beautiful albums and showing us how to fix up these wonderful dolls. I will have this doll forever.
